On the morning of October 7th, an Israeli military spokesperson confirmed the deployment of three additional reserve units aimed at expanding ground operations in southern Lebanon. This announcement comes just a week after a “limited” ground incursion began in the area.
The addition of these reserve units marks a notable escalation in the Israeli army’s activities in the region. The soldiers, who have been actively engaged in conflict in the Gaza Strip and northern territories over the past year, have recently been re-mobilized in the last two weeks.
Commander Shai Klapper reached out to the troops, highlighting that this marks the first deployment of reserve forces to the northern front. He underscored the mission’s significance, stating, “Now we are going to launch attacks on enemy territory. This is the moment to change the security situation in the north, so that residents can return to their homes.”
