Oribo joins hands with Southern University of Science and Technology to build a joint laboratory for smart new energy housing technology

On September 29, 2024, the SUSTech Conference Center hosted the unveiling ceremony for the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and ORIGIN’s Smart New Energy Residential Technology Joint Laboratory. At the ceremony, ORIGIN’s founder and CEO, Wang Xionghui, along with Liu Ke, the dean of SUSTech’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute and a foreign academician of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, made a passionate appeal to the global scientific community. They are looking to recruit innovative talents in the new energy sector with the aim of improving energy efficiency, aiding in global carbon neutrality efforts, accelerating technological advancements in residential settings, and fostering sustainable development in society.

The ORIGIN Smart New Energy Residential Technology Joint Laboratory is a collaborative initiative spearheaded by Wang Xionghui and Liu Ke. This lab is envisioned as an open and inclusive platform that ignites inspiration and promotes cutting-edge scientific discoveries. The lab’s mission is to address global energy pollution and waste challenges through the application of AIoT and new energy technologies. Under the mentorship of experienced leaders, top scientific talent will gain access to groundbreaking technologies while also acquiring a deeper understanding of global business dynamics.

Wang Xionghui is recognized not just as a prominent entrepreneur but also as one of Forbes China’s 40 Under 40, receiving several honors for his leadership in the smart home industry. Liu Ke enhances this partnership with his extensive scientific expertise as a renowned researcher, chair professor in SUSTech’s Chemistry Department, and a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, while also contributing to various scientific journals’ editorial boards. Both Wang and Liu are dedicated to propelling scientific research in China through this laboratory.

During the event, Wang emphasized ORIGIN’s commitment to accelerating the global technological transformation in residences by merging technology with aesthetics. He urged talented individuals to join their initiatives, stating, “The lab is dedicated to fostering scientific progress, advancing the national strategy for education and science, and building a globally influential open innovation ecosystem centered on new energy intelligent technology.”

Post-launch, Liu Ke will guide a team backed by national-level research funding and competitive bonuses, boasting exceptional research conditions. The lab’s focus will be on pioneering next-generation smart heat pump air conditioning technologies, AI control powered by large models, and innovative research into advanced microchannel and nano-material heat exchange technologies.

Industry experts have noted that as carbon neutrality and new energy become critical global issues, the integration of smart AI with new energy heat pump technologies in homes can significantly improve user experience and enhance energy efficiency. This approach is anticipated to advance the development of smart homes and lay a foundation for a sustainable future in the sector.

For over 13 years, ORIGIN has been at the forefront of evolving smart new energy technology for residences. According to a report from the international research organization IDC, ORIGIN’s smart home control screens have maintained the top position in shipment volume for four consecutive years.

Building on years of expertise in central air conditioning control, ORIGIN last year launched a next-generation integrated smart energy-saving air conditioning system, featuring proprietary hardware and software designs. This innovative system combines central air conditioning, heating, and water heating into a single, cohesive unit, introducing a compact thermal energy recycling storage system that reutilizes waste heat from air conditioning to provide hot water, establishing a new benchmark for smart homes.

With the Smart New Energy Residential Technology Joint Laboratory as its foundation, ORIGIN aims to draw in more research elites and continues to push the boundaries of innovation by integrating smart AI with new energy heat pump technologies, driving the next wave of evolution in smart homes, and contributing to green and sustainable growth through technological advancements.
